New Wine Leadership Year Opportunity

A fantastic Opportunity!

Saturday Gathering, Christ Church Pellon and St Augustine Halifax are three churches serving diverse communities in the West Yorkshire town of Halifax.  Our dream is to see the Kingdom of God rule in our lives, our churches our communities and our town. We are building communities that demonstrate the grace of God in practical ways. Our greatest desire is to see lives changed by the redeeming love and power of Jesus Christ. St Augustine’s church has a welcome centre for refugees and asylum seekers (http://www.staugustinescentrehalifax.org.uk/), Saturday Gathering is a fresh expression of church serving the poor and marginalised (https://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/stories/saturdaygathering/sep14) and Christ Church Pellon a lively Anglican church with thriving youth work (http://www.christchurchpellon.org.uk/).

What is in it for me?

We will give you practical experience in specialist ministries e.g. children’s work, youth work, ministry to the poor and vulnerable and recovering from chaotic lives, ministry to refugees and asylum seekers etc you will have the opportunity to learn a range of skills including time management, initiative taking, team work, adaptability, programme planning, while discovering and using your God–given gifts. We recognise that you come as an individual with the unique gifts God has given you and so will look to build a role description that is personalised to your gifting and aspirations.

The wide ranging programme will give you an opportunity to develop your leadership skills including clarifying your vision; sharing your passion; improving decision–making and planning skills; honing communication skills and motivating others; and teaching you how to lead by example and the importance of service in Christian leadership.

Who

The Programme is for anyone aged 18-24 years old who has made a commitment to follow Jesus. You should be passionate about sharing your faith with others and willing to allow God to use you and mould you into the kind of person He wants you to be. In any one of the churches you will be part of a team; working and learning together. We will work with you to help you discover God’s call on your life, His purpose and plans for you and to equip you in living for Him.

Where?

Halifax is located in West Yorkshire. You will be living and working in this community (shared accommodation may be provided). There will also be opportunities to work alongside other churches and organisations throughout the year.

What?

Being part of this Programme provides opportunities to join others in the daily and ongoing work of the church; train with the team as you develop your skills; sharpen your focus; discover your gifts and continually put what you learn into practice. The structure of the 12 month programme will be as follows:

The Programme will begin with an induction week, giving you the opportunity to experience life in the three churches and two centres. You will be encouraged to actively participate in church activities including services on Saturdays and/ or Sundays. During the week you will also see how churches connect with the local community, having the opportunity to sample the wide range of outreach programmes and hear the vision and passions of the ministry leaders.

You will then immerse yourself in your chosen, main outreach ministry, while continuing involvement in Saturday and Sunday activities and also subsidiary outreach ministries and general ministries, where required.
